Several of experimental studies and molecular investigations highlight the power of herbs to evidence-based medicine. In Algeria, a number of medicinal plants have been studied for the treatment of diabetes such as Haloxylon scoparium pomel and Atriplex halimus L., growing in arid and subarid areas, known for its hypoglycemic activity and widely used by the local population as remedy to treat diabetes mellitus.
