Periodontal Ligament Stem Cells (PDLSC): A Promising Strategy for Periodontal Regeneration

The presage for the treatment of inflammatory periodontal disease is periodontal regeneration. The cellular therapeutic remedy is an emerging promising strategy in regenerative medicine/dentistry, particularly making use of mesenchymal-derived stem cells. MSC has the capacity to develop into adipogenic, osteogenic/odontogenic and neurogenic cells. Dental stem cells isolated from mature/immature teeth are dental pulp stem cells, stem cells from exfoliated deciduous teeth, periodontal ligament stem cells, stem cells from apical papilla and dental follicle progenitor cells.
