Synthesis, spectral characterization, crystal and molecular structure studies of 4-(5-bromo-2-thienyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-phenyl-2-pyrazoline

The title compound 4-(5-bromo-2-thienyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-phenyl-2-pyrazoline has been synthesized and the product obtained was characterized by spectroscopic techniques and finally the structure was confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system with the space group P21/c with unit cell parameters a = 19.5352(6) Å, b = 5.4004(2) Å, c = 16.1243(5) Å and Z=4. The pyrazoline ring in the structure is in an envelope conformation. The structure possess a chiral center at C4 with R conformation. Since the molecule has crystallized in a centrosymmetric space group, we can surmise that the compound crystallize as a recemate.
