Author(s): GloryArava and Lingappa Yeramanchi2H-3-Chromeneimine (1a-h) react with phenoxyacetylchloride (2) at room temperature in a Staudinger reaction to give 4-(2H-chromene-3-yl)-3-phenoxy-1-(4-methylphenyl) azetidin-2-ones (β-lactams) (3a-h).
