A novel multi-wall carbon nanotubes reinforced agarose/chitosan (Agr-Ch-MWCNTs) composite film was prepared in solution form at a ratio of 0.4:1:1 (w/v %). The chemical structure, morphology and thermal properties of the composite film were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), thermal analysis (TGA), Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) and nitrogen adsorption analysis. It was revealed that Agr-Ch-MWCNTs composite film form a highly compatible blend and displayed homogeneous and smooth surface properties. Presence of amino functional group in chitosan showed a good dispersion of MWCNTs in a agarose/chitosan matrix and prevent deactivation of sorbent via agglomeration.
