In situ synthesis and characterization of novel strontium doped nano chitosanhydroxyapatite composite

A novel nano strontium doped chitosan-hydroxyapatite composite was synthesis by in situ co-precipitation method. Physicochemical properties of the composite material obtained was studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) . The synthesised composite was found to be nanocrystalline. The chemical composition and morphological features of the novel strontium doped chitosan-HA composite was found to have resemblance to that of bone mineral.
