Characterization of Phosphate Interaction with �Ž�±-Al2O3 in Aqueous Solution

The objective of the present work is to study phosphate uptake by Alumina (α-Al2O3) in aqueous solutions through macroscopic and spectroscopic analysis. The effects of pH, competitive ions, contact time and phosphate concentration are evaluated. The obtained results show that the fixation of phosphate on the aluminum oxide is maximal at around pH 4.5. At pH<7, the effects of competitive anions follow the order: chromate
