Abstract
A new insight into Beckmann rearrangement for the synthesis of some ( E )-3- arylidenepiperidin-2-ones
Author(s): Satbir Mor and Preeti PahalSynthesis of some (E)-3-arylidenepiperidin-2-ones ( 7 ) derived from cyclopentanone ( 1 ) via thionyl chloride/dry dioxane mediated Beckmann rearrangement in moderate yields has been reported. The structural confirmat ion of the synthesized compounds was carried out on the ba sis of spectral (IR, NMR and mass) as well as eleme ntal analysis results.
