Studies on oxadiazole–salicylic acid combined molecule as a ligand and its metal chelation

Mannich reaction of-5(4-pyridinyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole with 4-aminosalicylic acid and formaldehyde in ethanol afford 3-(4-carboxy-3-hydroxyphenyl aminomethyl)-5-(4-pyridinyl)-1,3,4-oxadizole-2-thione(CHPOT) The various metal complexes viz Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Fe3+ and UO22+ of CHPOT have been prepared. The CHPOT and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, spectral features, magnetic moment and antimicrobial activity.
